Kuala Lumpur - Introduction

Kuala Lumpur is the capital and largest city of Malaysia. It is the country’s financial, cultural, and economic center, and home to a population of 1.4 million people.

The city’s multi-cultural character is a composite of Malay, Indian and Chinese influences. The architecture too is a blend of old colonial buildings and modern skyscrapers.
Among the city’s biggest draws are the many festivals and religious cultural holidays. Shopping expos and business conferences are attracted here as well as the tourists both for the excellent food and great shopping. In addition, the five-star hotels are among the cheapest in the world. Kuala Lumpur is also becoming a major destination for medical tourism.

The city’s symbol of modern development is the 452 meter high Petronas Twin Towers, two of the tallest buildings in the world, certainly the tallest twin towers.

Kuala Lumpur has a hot tropical climate, with constant temperatures throughout the year, high humidity and plenty of rainfall. Heavy rain storms occur during the entire year, and are most frequent in the early evenings. The monsoon season is from October through to March when rainfall is especially abundant, particularly between October and January. The driest months are May, June, and July but there is occasional rainfall nevertheless.
