 CLIMATE - JAMAICA : : : : :

         FACTS AT A GLANCE >>
Jamaica is blessed with a pleasant maritime tropical climate. It is warm throughout the year with temperatures ranging around 27-30C. Year-round, temperatures are usually five to ten degrees cooler in the mountains. The climate is characterized by small seasonal variations and much sunshine. Typically sunny all year-round, Jamaica has its rainy periods during the months of May, June, September and October. The rain usually occurs in the afternoon in short ample bursts, otherwise clouds do not hide the sun. Warm winds, referred to as "trade winds" here, blow throughout the day thus moderating the heat. The Caribbean islands are subject to hurricanes from June to November, but relatively few of the hurricanes sweeping the region touch Jamaica.
