Construction Update

Construction continues as the Economy Lot A and Lot B are being combined into one Economy Lot. This is scheduled to be done in November 2006. Until that time, to assist you in finding available parking spaces, please follow the lime green directional signs.

: : Park and Wait Lot : :

Park and Wait Lot

The new Park and Wait Lot is an area where drivers wait in their vehicles, free of charge, while passengers deplane, pick up luggage and walk out to the curb for pickup. The lot is located on your right as you enter the airport, south of Terminal One. Once ready, there is an exit from the lot back onto the terminal roadway for easy pickup. Then proceed to the pickup lanes on your left.

The lot offers an alternative to circling the terminals or parking in the short term parking lot. This free lot includes 100 newly-paved parking spaces, along with three large electronic flight information signs displaying flight arrival information. Once the flight has arrived and time allowed for luggage pickup, the sign displays a message, "ready for pickup." The driver may then proceed to the terminal curb pickup on the left.

Pickup for Delta flights is in front of Terminal Two (Pickup spots 5-8). All other airlines' pickup is in front of Terminal One (Pickup spots 1-4).

Drivers must stay with their vehicles. There is no parking or waiting allowed in front of the terminal buildings.

Salt Lake City - Handicapped Facilities

Facilities for People with Disabilities

The Salt Lake City International Airport has been carefully designed to accommodate those people with disabilities. The restaurants, parking lots and restrooms are equipped with the needed facilities. There are telephones accessible from a wheelchair at the telephone banks and TDD telephones for the hearing impaired in the lobbies of both terminals. Throughout both terminals there are ramps and elevators. They are located near the stairs and escalators and are prominently marked on the airport directories in the terminals. In addition, airlines can provide indoor motorized vehicle service or other assistance for their passengers.

When making your flight reservations be specific about your needs and the types of assistance you require. The airlines can then pre-arrange for an indoor motorized vehicle, personnel or other service.

Parking stalls have been designated in the short-term parking structure and in all parking lots, for use by people with disabilities. They are identified by the International symbol of access. These spaces are frequently patrolled, and their use by people who only display the international symbol of access, either placard or plate, is enforced. There are extra-wide stalls close to entrances. Vehicles fitted with side lifts can be accommodated only on the first level of the short-term parking structure. If you need other help with parking, contact the Airport's Ground Transportation Division at (801) 575-2780 or (801) 575-2401 to make special arrangements.

Ground Transport

The taxis, limousines, buses and all other forms of ground transportation that service Salt Lake City International Airport are capable of providing services to people with disabilities. The key to using their service is to arrange it in advance. Call and request the necessary equipment prior to your travel.

Salt Lake City International Airport operates the shuttle bus service from the long-term parking lot with buses featuring hydraulic lifts. Advance notice will streamline this process, even though it is not a requirement. Prior arrangements can be made by calling (801) 575-2780 or 575-2401.

The airlines provide wheelchairs upon request. It is best to reserve one ahead of time; however, it can be arranged at the ticket counters.

Restrooms throughout the airport are fully accessible.

Ramps and Elevators

All entrances and exits have been audited for appropriate curb height or ramp access. Wherever you encounter stairs or an escalator, an elevator will also be in the close vicinity.

TDD Phones

This phone system for people who are deaf or hard of hearing is available in the lobbies of both airport terminals or through the Control Center by calling (801) 575-2264.

In addition, AT&T credit card phones throughout the airport have a TDD feature.

Most of the telephone banks located throughout the airport have been designed to allow wheelchair accessibility.

The airport's restaurants can accommodate the needs of people with disabilities. Most of them have wide aisles, counters low enough for wheelchair access, and ample dining space. Those that do not are currently being upgraded. In the meantime, please ask food service personnel for assistance.

Gift Shops

Air Terminal Gifts and HMS Host operate retail shops that have been designed or remodeled to be able to serve all segments of the population. You should have no trouble selecting and paying for items. If you do, the staff is readily available to help.

First Aid

Airport Police can handle minor first aid needs. On-airport paramedics are on 24-hour standby. Either can be summoned by dialing (801) 575-2405 or 2400 on a white paging phone.
