Taxi booths are located in the terminals where passengers should book taxis and receive a receipt for the fare, agreed in advance. Travelling time is about 35 minutes. Public buses serve the airport but are not recommended for visitors. Visitors are advised to arrange airport transfers with their hotels or hosts in advance of arrival.
Avis, Hertz and National are represented at the airport. Driving in Colombia is risky and it most visitors hire a car with driver rather than self-driving.
The Puente Aéreo terminal, built in 1981 is about one km from the main terminal in the direction of the city. It handles Avianca's international flights to New York and Miami, and domestic flights to Cali, Medellín Pasto, Montería and a few other major cities. Puente Aéreo terminal is more comfortable, but there are not as many duty-free shops as in the other terminal.
The main terminal, El Dorado, built in 1959, is being slowly modernized. Many snack bars, restaurants, and handicraft shops are located on the first floor, as well as a bank, Banco Popular, that changes both cash and travellers' cheques at a marginal lower rate than the bank's branches in the city.
Free Colombian coffe is available inside the customs area.
There are no conference and business facilities located at the airport. Nearby hotel InterContinental can provide business and meeting facilities
