Cebu - introduction

Cebu City is the capital of Cebu Island. It is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines. It is also the second largest airport hub in the country and the largest sea port.

Cebu is a bustling city, less chaotic than Manila but still mostly serves as a gateway to the Visayas region. It is the second largest metropolitan area in the Philippines, and is home to approximately 850,000 people. The city and the nearby Maktan Island have become popular tourist destinations, mostly with Japanese visitors.

Cebu City has several attractions, eateries, shopping malls, golf courses, casinos and tourist resorts. Cebu is best known for the colorful Sinulog festival held annually, on the 3rd Sunday in January.

The nearby attractions of the Calanggaman and Gato caves and lagoons, the Argao, Oslop and Carmen beaches, and the popular divespots at Moalboal, Badian, Mactan and Olango are all easily within reach.
